I know most of you probably stay at one of the famous international chain hotels. But here's a look at a typical room at a local Chinese hotel. It's pretty luxurious with high end features with both a large bath tub and separate shower. It also includes breakfast buffet and they have a full restaurant on site, strangely enough the restaurant serves Western menu almost exclusively. The cost per night was 486 rmb or close to $60 USD per night. Note also that there is a window between the bedroom and the bathroom that is typical of Asian hotels. You will have to use your imagination to think of what goes on behind these windows and for what purpose. If you really need to know send me an email and I will spell it out for you.

Candy Kimvin underwear in the "outlet" mall in Shanghai. Font looks familiar for sure. Maybe Candy Kimvin is Calvin's second cousin once or twice removed?
We were walking back to our car in the parking garage, whenever I go down to the Gas Lamp district in downtown San Diego, I park at Parkit on Market (please don't park there I want it to stay secret) it's centrally located and it has reasonable rates. We saw a swank new bar that looked like it just opened. It was full with beautiful peoples, however not as beautiful as we were, we popped our head in to check it out and the hostess told us it was part of a new hotel that just opened yesterday. They invited us in to take a look around. It was beautiful in modern art deco style with brass and wood. They had a great bar in the front, a fancy new farm to table restaurant with an open exhibition kitchen in the middle and a chill microbrew sports bar/gastropub in the back. However the real gem of the property is the 3rd floor pool with cabanas, lounges and a lively bar. The Pendry Hotel is a lively boutique hotel that will soon be the San Diego destination for hipsters and wannabe hipsters. We didn't partake this time we'll provide an updated review when we get our hipster on and really check it out.
In Germany Beer is classified as a food group. Almost every town brews its own signature brew. There are more than 60 different beer styles in Germany. Germans are very conscious of distinct beer styles. When they order a beer, they rarely ask for it by its brand name. Rather they order beer by its style designation, asking for a Pils, an Alt, a Kölsch, a Weissbier, a Helles or a Dunkel, for instance. I prefer Pils or Kölsch. When in Germany you have to drink beer. When you combine beer with traditional German fare I wonder why Sumo wrestlers haven't caught onto German cuisine.
Steve If you've been in a hotel in Korea or Japan, chances are you've encountered one of these bad boys. Asia leads the world in toilet technology once you've experienced it you'll want it. Stephon Curry-NBA MVP with the Golden State Warriors said that his Japanese hight tech toilet was life changing. With heated seats, warm water washing (front and back) multiple washing options, warm air drying these make toilet paper obsolete.
Crazy Things I've seen in AsiaIt never ceases to amaze me how Asians like to use English words and phrases as decorative elements. In Korea, English study is mandatory throughout elementary and high school so most people have a fundamental understanding of written English, conversational English is a different story however. I'll post more examples of this. The first thing that came to my mind when I saw this was: WTF is this supposed to mean? or I guess it's just too deep for me to comprehend.
Red Rock Resort & CasinoWhen most people think of Las Vegas they think about the hotels along Las Vegas Blvd-"The Strip" but next time you go visit Red Rock Canyon and stay at the Red Rock Resort. It's only 20 minutes away from the strip but it seems like a world away. In addition to a spacious casino it has a movieplex complete with an IMAX 3D theater and a 60 lane bowling center. The rooms are modern and spacious and well equipped complete with a TV in the bathtub. Make sure to visit Red Rock Canyon when you visit Las Vegas, it's well worth the drive to see. I've been traveling around the world for business for 20+ years now. It's not as glamorous as you think and it's not at horrible as you might think. Here we'll be sharing our travel experiences, cultural observations, selfies, international food porn and the occasional travel tip.
