Date night on a dime in Carlsbad Village

Carlsbad Village is a quintessential beach town with plenty of places to hang out in the evening. Escaping the heat of the summer, we came down to the village on Friday night.
What better way to beat the heat than a light dinner of Poke followed up with a stroll and gelato?

Pokewan is a hipster poke joint with all kinds of innovative toppings such as mango salsa, beets, watermelon radishes, fresh corn, A large bowl comes with 4 scoops of protein and is large enough to feed two or one very hungry patron. They share a hipster patio with the hipster Itzakaya next door, where you can stop by for an adult beverage after your poke. btw you can park in the Blue Ocean Parking lot when you dine a Pokewan.

You can come and watch them make gelato every morning through the window of the gelato lab at the far right.
Gaia Gelato is a required stop whenever you come down to Carlsbad Village. Made fresh everyday in the Gelato lab, with the world famous Carlsbad Alkaline Artesian Well water and fresh seasonal ingredients. Founded by Roman cousins in 2014, Gaia Gelato brings authentic Italian gelato and sorbet to Carlsbad. You can also get up to 3 flavors in your cup or cone. You can taste the love and care that goes into everything that they make at Gaia Gelato, even the barista pulled expresso and cappuccino's are made with care.

At Carlsbad Village Faire Shopping Center, you'll find an assortment of shops and restaurants both large and small along with a nice fountain in the middle courtyard gathering spot. There were at least 2 venues with live music playing with one hot spot playing dance music outside  for the well lubricated night beach crowd who boogie down to both the electric slide and daft punk.

As for us we split a large poke bowl, had a large gelato with pistachio, marzipan and Dutch chocolate gelato and a decaf cappuccino for $25 and we had a nice stroll down by the beach.
